Kinder, Gentler, Nation…

Kinder, Gentler, Nation…

Let them go for they are not animals
Those who have tortured and killed
Do not hurt them for they have rights
Those who slaughter at will

Treat them with compassion and civility
Those who seek our demise
Do not humble or humiliate
Those who remove the eyes

Teach them to love and rehabilitate
Those who learn hatred from the start
Show the value of humanity
Those who lack remorseful hearts

~ Arnold Bailey

We stand

We stand

We stand for strength
Solid is our foundation
We stand for understanding
Follow us or die

We stand for tolerance
If you are chosen
We stand for values
Follow us with blinded eye

We stand for justice
To decide if you are forgiven
We stand for unity
Follow us ask not why

We stand for salvation
Though you may not see it
We stand for a higher purpose
Follow us we cry

We stand as religions of the world
And shall tell you what is right
We stand for eternity
Follow til’ you part this mortal lie

Subconscious conflict

Subconscious conflict

You see me how you want to
I see me not at all
You criticize and ridicule
Things I cannot recall

I see you as you are
No more or less than me
My vision seems to bother you
You refuse to let it be

Turn your reluctant eyes inward
The madness doth abound
A mire and mesh of insecurity
No confidence to be found

An abhorrence to face me
Locked in a daily routine
Only an image in the mirror
As you wipe away the steam

~Arnold Bailey

Death I have seen you

Death I have seen you

I have seen you in your finest hour
Decisive, swift, unyielding
A general’s sword dealing out mortality

I have seen you in the worst of light
Cowering in fear and pain
A rapist callously robbing innocence

I have seen you through a merciful eye
Sparing, kind and compassionate
A peaceful whisper in the night

I have seen you as ruthless
Daunting, cold and pitiless
A child screaming vainly through smoke and flame

I have seen you as inopportune
Unrepentantly disconcerting
A youth succumb to fate

I have seen you as a welcomed friend
Judiciously met, salutations
A rope grasping finality as a warm handshake

I have seen your many faces
Unfettered unprejudiced
A cold glance inevitably to meet our gaze

~Arnold Bailey

Dear Immigrants

Dear Immigrants

We want you to go back
Do not bother us with the issues of your homelands
Do not come here and be angered by our ways
Do not take our land
Do not use our resources
Do not expect us to learn your language
Do not complain that we do not want you

You came to us seeking shelter
And we gave
You came to us seeking food
And we gave
You came, we gave
And still you want more
Go back from whence you came
Leave us in peace

Yours truly…
The Indians

Torment

Torment

Struggle my whole life
Clawing through the darkness of the unknown
Leaving all behind me
Laying waste to all before me
Clutching at the emptiness
Feeling my chest tighten
Suffocating in the uncertainty of an unknown number of tomorrows
Silently screaming in the confines of my mind
Lash out at short-lived pleasure
Embracing the reliance of pain
Bittersweet death mockingly beyond reach
Dim light of my soul falling deafly through the chasm

~ Arnold Bailey

Cold Blooded Killer

Cold Blooded Killer

I take position
Masterful camouflage
Waiting

Victims pass by
Beyond reach
Patience

Time passes slowly
She comes
Beautiful

She moves closer
Heart pounding
Anticipation

I lunge out
She struggles
Darkness

Her body, limp
Mission successful
Satisfaction

I love mosquitoes

~ Arnold Bailey

What would they have been

What would they have been

A man saved thirty people
The headlines would have read
A serial killer claims another
In the news it is not said

The first woman President elected
But never came to be
A tyrant tried for mass murder
A trial we shall not see

An artist inspires millions
Her canvas stands unfilled
A rock star dies of overdose
But he never took the pills

Did we kill savior or convict
From the seed we sow
Abortion steals from the future
Those we shall never know

~Arnold Bailey

Final Performance

Final Performance

Stripped of clothes and worldly goods
As the raven stands on watch
Shaved and washed and sterilized
A cloth place over my crotch

My limbs bent, flexed, and body massaged
I am prepared for my special day
My eyecups in placed and mouth sewn shut
My features are set in this way

Through the right common carotid artery enters my fate
The icy liquid starts to flow
From the right jugular vein, finality secured
The raven takes flight with my soul

The trocar enters like a swordsman’s blade
Piercing my organs deep
An aspirator takes with it the last signs of being
No secrets inside shall I keep

Alas I am bathed then dried once again
My makeup put on and then dressed
This will be my final performance on life’s stage
Therefore, I must look my best

6:15

6:15

Home from the party I go to my room
There she stands in a beautiful gown
I come out of the shower, she is there again
Dancing all around

My parents are there, cheering me on
Which is odd because they are dead
She quickly undresses and continues to dance
Suddenly we are lying in bed

She sits by my feet and tightens the ropes
Then starts to slowly undress
I run from my car and up to my room
Trying to avoid the press

She kisses my neck then my chest
And the monkeys start causing a scene
About to make love, an alarm clock sounds
I awake… its 6:15
